How to play

Bingo, but the numbers are the songs you grew up on.

Same rules as the bingo your grandma plays. The host calls songs instead of numbers, the DJ plays them, and every card is unique. First to line up five wins the round. We run three rounds a night, then close with a dance battle.

  1. 01

    Grab your card

Each player gets a unique 5×5 card. Every square is a song title pulled from that night’s theme, 90s R&B, 2000s Hip‑Hop, Michael Jackson, 80s Throwbacks. Sixty songs in the pool. Twenty‑four on your card. One free space in the middle.

  2. 02

    The DJ drops a jam!

Thirty to sixty seconds of a track. No host calling B‑12. If the song is on your card, you mark the square. If it’s not, you sing along until the next one drops. Could be Thriller. Could be No Scrubs. Could be a deep cut.

  3. 03

Line it up, shout it out

Five in a row, column, diagonal, or four corners. First person to a line yells “BINGO” (or “THRILLER,” or whatever the night’s call phrase is). Host confirms, the room cheers, the round closes.

  4. 04

Win prizes, stay for the dance battle

Prizes every round, bar tabs, merch, brand samples. New cards between rounds. After round six, the cards go away and the last hour is a full dance off with hosts picking a champion.

Themes we run

90s R&B · 2000s Hip‑Hop · Michael Jackson · 80s Throwbacks · Quiet Storm · Y2K Pop. New themes drop monthly.

Pace of the night

Friday, Saturday, or Sunday nights, start times vary by venue, so check the events page. Three rounds spread across about three hours, then a dance battle to close.

What to bring

Yourself, your ID (twenty‑one and over), and the lyrics you forgot you knew. Cards, daubers, and the soundtrack are on us.

Between the rounds

What happens between rounds?

Cards down, lights up. Hosts pull people out of their seats for a quick battle and the winner walks away with another prize. Sit it out and you get a front‑row seat to whoever’s brave enough.

See it in action

Sixteen seconds of the real thing.

An 80s R&B card mid-round. Songs daub themselves once the DJ plays them. You yell “Take Me Back” when you line up five. Free in your browser, no signup.

What is Take Me Back Bingo Nights?

Take Me Back Bingo Nights™ is a live hip-hop and R&B music bingo experience hosted across New York and New Jersey, with private bookings nationwide. The brand pulls from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s catalogs specifically: players mark song titles on a 5×5 card instead of numbers, the DJ plays 30‑second clips of throwback hits, and the first player to line up five squares yells “TAKE ME BACK” to win the round. Operated by High Class Experience LLC, Take Me Back Bingo Nights pairs a comedian-hosted format (Comedian Talent of Def Comedy Jam, BET’s Comic View, and The Apollo) with DJ Tameil on the decks. The brand differs from generic music bingo brands by anchoring to hip-hop and R&B culture and running dance battles, lip sync wars, and sing‑alongs between bingo rounds for additional prizes.

What is hip-hop music bingo?

Hip-hop music bingo is a live event format where players mark song titles on a 5×5 card instead of numbers. The DJ plays a 30‑second clip of a song from the hip-hop catalog; if the title matches a square on the player’s card, they daub it. The first player to line up five squares in a row, column, or diagonal yells the night’s call phrase to win the round. Take Me Back Bingo Nights™ is the hip-hop and R&B version of music bingo, pulling from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s catalogs specifically. Each card holds 24 song titles from a pool of 60 plus a free center square. A typical Take Me Back Bingo Nights event runs three rounds across about three hours, with dance battles and lip sync wars between rounds and a full dance battle closing the night.

How does music bingo work, step by step?

  1. Grab a card. Each player gets a unique 5×5 bingo card with 24 song titles drawn from that night’s 60‑song pool, plus a free center square.
  2. The DJ drops a clip. Thirty seconds of a song plays. If the title is on your card, you daub the matching square.
  3. Listen and mark. Songs cycle approximately every 30–60 seconds. Singing along is allowed and recommended.
  4. Hit five and yell. First player to line up five squares (row, column, diagonal, or four corners) shouts “TAKE ME BACK” to claim the round.
  5. Three rounds a night. Prizes at the end of each round (bar tabs, merch, samples). Between rounds: dance battles, lip sync wars, sing‑along challenges. Closes on a full dance battle with the host picking the champion.

Is music bingo good for a bachelorette party or birthday?

Music bingo works exceptionally well for bachelorette parties, birthdays, bachelorette nights, work parties, corporate events, and wedding pre-parties because it combines a structured game (low pressure for non-drinkers and introverts) with high-energy interactive moments (dance battles and lip sync wars for the extroverts). For private bookings, Take Me Back Bingo Nights builds a custom song pool tuned to the guest of honor’s era or favorite artists, runs two themed bingo rounds with custom prizes, and offers a lip sync war or dance battle on request. Each booking includes the host, the DJ, the cards, daubers, and sound system. Sessions run about three hours. Pricing varies by group size and travel distance from NYC; 50% deposit holds the date. About Take Me Back Bingo

We started this because regular bingo was too quiet.

We’re DJs, hype people, and music nerds who think the best nights happen when everyone knows the words. So we ditched the numbers, cranked the speakers, and turned bingo into a party.

Now we bring that energy to birthdays, bars, and offices nationwide.

FAQ · Liner Notes

The Music Bingo FAQ. Liner notes for the curious.

Everything you wanted to ask before buying a ticket to a Take Me Back Bingo night. Still curious? Send us a note.

  1. How does music bingo work?

Music bingo works like classic bingo, but instead of numbers the DJ plays a 30-second clip of a song and the title appears on your card. Mark off songs as you hear them. First player to line up five in a row, column, or diagonal yells the call phrase and wins the round. We run three rounds a night.

  2. Do I need to know every song to win?

No, the song title appears on the screen behind the host, so you just match it to the squares on your card. You’re playing bingo, not Shazam. Knowing the words is a bonus for singing along, not a requirement for winning.

  3. How long is a music bingo night?
